Customer Relationship Management System – CRM is a long term Business Strategy as more and more companies are switching from product – driven to customer – driven strategies, therefore it is of greater importance to know what the customer thinks. There has been rise of the creative consumer.
Examples Malaysian airline system ( MAS ) embarked on a unique direct approach to understand what their passengers felt about the service they currently delivered, what their expectations of them were as a national carrier, and how the airline could build real value into its enrich frequent flyer program. MAS first handed out questionnaires on the aircraft and asked passengers to score the airline on a number of key service factors, next the airline proposed a number of potential added-value benefits the airline might be able to give them and asked for their views, the final question was to find out whether they would be prepared to participate in further research if asked, the result: incredibly effective! A number of customers had inserted extra sheets of paper! This shows the proper CRM Application applied for knowing what their customers want in a way CRM Marketing. Similarly another example is BMW which posted a toolkit on its website and let its customers develop ideas showing how the firm could take advantage of advances in telemetric and in-car online services from the 1000 customers who used the toolkit; BMW chose 15 and invited them to meet its engineers in Munich. The result: Some of their ideas have since reached the prototype stages.

The customer is king
Not only is customer is the king; now he is market-research head, R & D chief and product-development manager, too!! Discover “unmet needs” among your customers. You must be aware as to what the customer likes, and hence formulate your strategies accordingly. Once you lose the customer it’s difficult to get that customer again. Follow proper Business Strategy.
